VA Appraisals

When you are going through the home buying experience, at some point the property you are contracted on will have to be appraised. We have good news and bad news. The good news is you can finance up to the full purchase price plus approved closing costs as a result of the appraisal. More good news is the fact that the VA itself will order your appraisal with an appraiser of their choice.

Unfortunately, the bad news with this is the fact you have no control over the appraisers cost. So, don't get sticker shock. The typical VA Appraisal can run anywhere between three hundred dollars to four hundred and fifty dollar depending upon your area. Do keep this in mind as you will need to pay up front for the appraisal, and depending on the appraised value, the funds that you pay are normally returned at closing or credited toward any outstanding costs.
